Alabaster stone is carved and still hand worked in Tuscany. It is famous for its transparency and for its veins. Light inside makes it translucent and particularly fascinating. It was already known by the ancients, who used it for vases and amphorae, especially to hold unguents and perfumes. Alabaster was considered one of the best materials to preserve them.
